Last Trimester and Ellie's Haircut

On Friday I took Ellie for her first official haircut. I decided to take her to the kids salon - Cool Cuts 4 Kids - because I wasn't sure how she was going to do. One on hand, I was really impressed with how kid friendly the place was! They let Ellie pick a movie to watch while she was getting her haircut, she got to sit in a car chair during the cut, kid friendly styling products, etc. I wasn't impressed with the price though for a 10 minute haircut! Live and learn. Ellie thought it was tons of fun and she has bangs now and a cut that I can just let dry so I'm happy!

In pregnancy news - I'm officially in the last trimester! Only 12 more weeks to go (hopefully anyway). Here are some pictures from today at 28 weeks pregnant. It's definitely obvious from the side that I'm pregnant but not so much straight on. Kind of funny! Sorry that my head is always cut off in these pictures. I can't figure out how to do self-timer and fit my whole body in.... And I always forget to have Rob take them when he gets home.

Snow Day at the Zoo & My Veggie Lover

Last weekend I got a flier from the Phoenix Zoo talking about their "snow day" that they were going to have at the zoo. They were going to be bringing in truckloads of snow for kids to play in and a bunch of snow and food for the animals to eat as well. Since we haven't used our zoo pass since April, I decided that it would be a good time to go and check it out! Our friends Karlie and Sam even met us there that morning. While it was an experience... I don't know if it is one I want to repeat for a while. Ellie wasn't too sure about playing in the snow, it was still way over 100 degrees, and very crowded. Not really good combinations for a pregnant lady! But all in the attempt of trying something new. And I will not be visiting that zoo until it is much cooler! I had my old camera in my bag so I got a few pictures but they turned out blurry... but it gives you an idea.

I snapped this picture of Ellie falling asleep on her floor in her room. I think she spent most of the night like this! Made me laugh.

And then we have evidence of my vegetable loving child! I was making dinner the other night and was going to steam some fresh broccoli. I went into the other room for a minute and came back to find Ellie going to town on the broccoli. I let her have this giant one and cooked the rest but I think she walked around for 10 minutes eating this large piece of broccoli. I'm glad she likes her veggies!

4th of July 2009

I always love celebrating 4th of July, but every year that I spend in Arizona on the 4th...I wonder why I didn't go out of town. It is way too hot! Nonetheless, we packed a lot in that day. We got up bright and early and helped out at the Ward breakfast that morning. While I wasn't thrilled at the time, I did love saying the Pledge of Allegiance and watching the flag ceremony. A great reminder to start off the day!

We all crashed for a few hours after getting up so early. Then Ellie swam in her little kiddie pool for a bit.

And then we headed off to see the movie "Up". I thought it was a great movie but Ellie had a few rough patches in the movie with the dogs. She thought Doug (main dog) was getting hurt by some of the other dogs and cried. She's just a little sensitive when it comes to dogs! Luckily we were able to get through those rough patches and lasted the whole movie.

For fireworks that night we went near Mesquite High School and watched their show. Ellie would be interested for a minute and then get distracted by people around her and then watch again. But it was almost too hot to enjoy it so we didn't even stay for the whole show.
