Fall Fun - October 2016

I absolutely love fall in Utah! I try and soak up as much of the fall festivities that I can because I know that winter is just around the corner and I hate how long the winter is in Utah.

Conference weekends means that I do a little baking and finish some puzzles. This year I made orange rolls instead of cinnamon rolls. And then spent the hours of listening to General Conference working on a Dowdle Folk Art puzzle of the National Parks. On Conference Sunday, after the sessions were all done, we made our annual trek up American Fork Canyon/Provo Canyon to see the fall leaves. They did not disappoint this year and my pictures from my phone just don't do them justice.

The girls had a few half days off of school so we took advantage of things not being crowded and went to the Spooktacular Fall Festival at Seven Peaks Lehi/Lehi Fun Center. We played in the corn pit, went through a hay maze, played miniature golf, and enjoyed the bounce houses.

We kept up our tradition of going to Gardner Village in West Jordan and doing the Witch Scavenger Hunt. Every year they decorate with a ton of different witches and the kids can go on a scavenger to find them all and get rewarded with a discounted cookie at the bakery when they are done. We met up with Madi and Halle and also our friends Alexa and Maggie with their mom and brother.

Peterson Family Farms in Riverton was our destination for buying our pumpkins. Everyone picked their favorite and then the kids played on the tractors, went down the slides, and visited the petting zoo before we headed home with our haul.

Asher had a preschool trip to Hee Haw Farms in Pleasant Grove and I was able to tag along. Asher is in a fantastic preschool in the neighborhood so it was fun to have lots of friends to hang out with on the field trip. The kids LOVED the huge slide, tractors, corn pit, sand pit, and taking home their own small pumpkin at the end. We followed the field trip with a lunch at Chick-fil-a with friends.

Eliza participated in the Pinewood Derby this year that was a combined Activity Days/Cub Scouts activity. Last year her car couldn't even finish the course. This year she advanced to the top 10 of cars!

Our best friends from Arizona were able to come and stay with us for a quick 24 hour visit. They came to the Pinewood Derby, we went to the park, Amy and I had a run to Target/Harmon's, and lots of time visiting and catching up. Before going home, they were able to enjoy the kids participating in the annual Primary Program in church. Only 123 kids this year (last year was closer to 175!) so it was long but entertaining. All my kids gave their parts - Chloe rushed through hers, Eliza memorized a really long part, and Asher ad libbed a little bit and then entertained us by waving a lot at us and throwing signs (like the peace sign?) our direction. I sure love Sunbeams!

My dad's neighborhood has really awesome HOA parties that we get to enjoy. They had a Halloween party complete with horses to ride on (that had on costumes too), carnival style games that earned candy and prizes, and then food trucks to enjoy.

And we had a fun afternoon of decorating Halloween cookies and playing with friends during our fall break from school.
